Stag

The old wood paddle tug Stag (1) hard at work dated in 1885, love the foy boatmen also in the foreground.

Strange date as she still has the Cook Companies funnel marks but 'I think' in 1885 she was owned by J Culliford JL Cark and A. Irving but belonged to Anchor Steam Tug Co fleet.

Well for the well over sixties also where is the picture taken , 'could be' coming into the Albert Edward Dock , BUT, look at the swing bridge or ferry landing bridge on the bottom left .

The photo is taken in South Dock,Sunderland.The aft tug is one of Irwing's.

So, looking at Dave's history of the STAG (http://www.tynetugs.co.uk/stag1885.html) which includes the same photo, if those are Cook colours the photo presumably dates post-1900 when she entered their ownership (then up to 1912, or maybe until broken up in 1922 if those funnel colours were retained)?
