OVER FIFTY-ONE AND A HALF YEARS AGO!

MSC DAINTY, United Kingdom, 37gt, completed Isaac Pimblott & Sons, Northwich, 1959

As I can find absolutely no direct connection with the NEM region I'm slipping this in through the back-door so to speak!
I couldn't possibly avoid recording two "firsts" for posterity!

My first ever visit to the former port of Fosdyke on 24 April 2017. I had spotted what looked like a tug lying there the last two times we had passed on our way back from Peterborough (and I think she will have been there for only six months or so) - this time I decided to stop, and was glad I did! Although somewhat awkward to photograph this was my sighting of the MSC DAINTY:

This was quite exciting for me because I recalled seeing and photographing her before .... way back in 1965. So the other "first" is that this was the first (and I imagine last and only!) time I have recorded a ship under the same name over 50 years apart. M.S.C. DAINTY towing M.S.C. NO. 48, Manchester Ship Canal, 16 September 1965:

And enlarged from this:

Yes, I know, photographic quality not great (still in my Box Brownie days) but nostalgic value ... off the scale!!!

Now better placed although the lighting this particular morning was absolutely abysmal!

Good to see her there Ron and in fine shape, surely must be someone's hobby as no towage needed there now?
I came across her still in use at Runcorn on 06/09/2008 during one of our ferry cruises.
