Ryton Engineering and Ryton Marine

I am currently trying to complete a history of Ryton Marine who built ships in a covered yard at Davey Bank Wallsend. They didn't last very long unfortunately, starting in 1971 and going bust in 1973. Now the reason for drawing your attention to this.
Has anyone any knowledge of Ryton Engineering, where were they based? They built a series of steel yachts and possibly other stuff as well. Any information/photos?
Has anyone got photos of the Ryton Marine site at Davey Bank? or photos of the TRITON which was built in 1972.

Finally anyone know why they failed, too ambitious too soon or was it the problems on the FREDA that pulled them down?

I wonder what building sequence they were following to have 528 as their third vessel. Also wonder what was 530?

Might the BENVOLIO have been no. 530?

I've also found a bit of a strange one!
http://www.hull-check.com/index.php?imo=7422441 states the TROILUS was built by Ryton in 1975! Yard no. 535
Miramar adds credence to this by also showing Ryton as builders, albeit it seems she was not completed until 1980!

Yes Ron, I guess it could be. I referred to this fishing boat, but not by name but as a part of their forward order book when they went into liquidation. I felt that as they hadn't made a start on her that I wouldn't list her in the yard list (as it is).

As for your OCEAN HARVEST ex OLIVIER, ex TROILUS I am at a loss. Could she be the TRITON from 1972?

Yard numbers .... any coincidence that Mitchison finished with y.n. 526 in 1962?
Were any ex Mitchison managers involved with Ryton?

BENVOLIO is listed on the Berwick site as YN 1003 launched 10/1976.

As for the Mitchison connection, an interesting observation, but I'm not aware of any connection between the firms.

Mitchison were going to continue with
527 HECTOR GULL
528 HECTOR GANNET
but both transferred to Appledore after their collapse

As BERNICIA was Ryton 528 then maybe the intended number was transferred and possibly TRITON or FREDA CUNNINGHAM were allocated 527.

No proof but I find this co-incidence of numbers and time frame an indication of a likely connection!
