Built as HERA in 1935 by Oresundsvarvet A/B. Landskrona, for Trans Marin A/B, Helsingborg. 1524grt Steam machinery
Sold to Arnold De Champs of Stockholm in 1959 renamed MONARDA
Bought by Stena A/B, Gothenburg, in 1971 and cut down to deck level. She was then registered as a barge and given the name STENA METALLICA
After two more name changes (VAASA 1 in 1974 then RICE 4 in 1977) she was finally demolished in 1985
The ships owned by the Monark Line (Arnold De Champs) visited east coast ports quite regularly bringing timber and general merchandise. I have seen their vessels loading an outward cargo at Dunston coal staiths on more than one occasion
