Not looking good for those who Fish in the Teesbay area with all the dead sea creatures coming ashore on to the Beaches, certainly down to the Dredging operations releasing all the decades of toxins that have built up over the years due to the various industries alongside the river. Although upriver is cleaner apparently, Cleveland Fire Brigade have stopped using the Barrage to practice their marine rescue procedures due to some of their men taking ill after doing so, there was an incident some years ago when a chap working on the river died from an infection, I presume he was not wearing gloves.
It seems amazing now that they used to have Yarm to Stockton Swimming Races!
