I met Charlie Booth, once at Hull where we discussed making a scrap export berth at 4/6 Sheds KG, then at his HQ yard at Rotherham. He was an archtypical taciturn Yorkshireman, 'muck and brass', a very rich man I suspect working from a little old office with a salvaged wooden desk and all sorts of 'interesting bits let's not chuck them away' around the walls. I saw him later being interviewed about the scrapping of the 'High Speed' locos at his yard, with some men literally ripping the loco apart in the background. Certainly one of the real characters of life.
