Originally Gardner's Saint Ronan she caused them problems with her engines. She could not change her name until the Papenburg built Helmsdale's register was closed after she grounded at Scurdyness near Montrose. Eventually sold, because her master retired and, possibly, the crew retired as well so she was sold to a group of individuals who got a limestone cargo from Sunderland to Wick and she was laid up there before moving to Leith as it was easier for prospective buyers to inspect her. Eventually brought down to Blyth by the tug MISTER CORNISHMAN owned by Capt Silas. Oates. But that is another story

I have an idea the breakers sold her engine, perhaps just for spares.

Knowing the problems that Gardner's had with her engines it could only be for spares.
Need to check but I think SAINT FERGUS had similar problems
