The former tug SHANNON in Grimsby Royal Dock on Sunday. She is now listed as a research vessel operated by Emu Ltd. of Southampton. Behind her is the tug BEAMER, until recently operated by Forth Estuary Towage but rumoured to have been acquired by Deans Tugs.

Apologies for registering and gatecrashing this post - but I'm keen to keep track of Beamer since her departure from my homeport of Leith.

Beamer was indeed acquired by John Dean Tugs, having spent the last 29 years in the Firth of Forth, along with her twin, Seal Carr, who was retained. Beamer is named after a rock in the Firth of Forth, near the Forth Road Bridge. Although I miss seeing her out and about here, I'm delighted to see a photo of her in her new home, and hope she spends many useful years for her new owners in Hull / Immingham / Grimsby

Good to hear from you, Leith Lass .... on two recent visits into Hull Docks I have not yet found her within camera view, but I am sure that some more photos of her at work in and around the Humber will appear on here soon, so keep looking in on your favourite.

Attached a shot of BEAMER at work last Friday passing under the Humber Bridge. Apologies for having to crop the shot. Suffice it to say that the reason is to be found elsewhere on the forum.

Cheers

Thanks for posting photos of Beamer. It still seems a bit strange not seeing her around in Leith, especially with her sister. However, I'm sure she will prove an asset in her new home, and I look forward to seeing more photos :D

You might be seeing her soon - she was in Alexandra dock Hull earlier today but AIS now has her passing Grimsby with the destination of Leith tug base (as of 17:00 hours)

Don't know what she's up to - but her AIS has been a bit dodgy since her arrival on the Humber. She's been showing a destination of Leith Tugbase since she left Scotland! Maybe after 29 years, she's not quite ready to sever ties with us completely :D

Looks like an AIS update needed then!

From Tugtalk - apparently all is well and the purchase has been completed but the crew are still learning the equipment - obviously not got round to AIS yet.

Another view of the elusive BEAMER, this time tucked away in King George on Thursday evening.
