Mike - any chance I can copy this to the Humber tugs and workboats forum on FB, been a query about Hippo-d's fate.

Mike

I am sure that you have the date right, but was HIPPO D being broken up? I am sure that I saw her part submerged at Selby in 1997. I have a photo somewhere that I will dig out and post. Unfortunately there won't be an accurate date on it.

That's the one. Thanks George.
Posted in the days when I had an old computer monitor that I didn't realise showed everything super dark, so I always boosted the brightness too far.

As her bow is hidden in Mick's photo, seems she was in use as a yard tug by Cook, then 'sold up the river' and abandoned.
Maybe you should visit Selby again ..... ;)

Thanks for all the information, the text for the original phot should have read 'laying in the breakers yard',as we all know the ROLSTON was broken up but as already pointed out the HIPPO D was refitted and put back into service. I did see her on a number of occasions during my wanderings and have attached a selection of views. Yes Patrick it is ok to use the photos.

Just come across the photos of HIPPO D again, so thought I would rescan.
I can't see any identity on her so I guess I posted the photo on the old TugTalk and someone IDed her for me.
