Just got my Senior's Railcard, I could go via Doncaster and Grimsby and step off the platform next to the haven ... except it's being 'improved' just now, so much so that it doesn't exist :)
Maybe I'll keep to the Bridge.

Barring for the Christmas Special on North Yorkshire ( hopefully with a proper Train Pulling it) I wouldn't know where to start buying a ticket for a 'normal' Train with all the different Companies running the same routes, long, long are the days of standing on Darlo Station with my Ian Allen book waiting for a 'Streak' or a ' Blinker' to come hissing to a halt and then underlining its number in what was the 'Bible'

Likewise, Ron2, south end of Platform 1 in early/mid-50's, MALLARD with front-end covered with flies, and a quick glimpse of northbound 'The Elizabethan' coming up past the signal box and along the through tracks. Once steam went, the abc's changed from trains to ships ....

Yes, I, too, did 6 months train-spotting, including cycling to Darlington and Ferryhill from Middlesbrough, before converting to ships just after my 15th birthday. Never looked back since, as the saying goes.

So what did we wear whilst stood on a cold Darlo Station or the Footbridge across the Southbound Lines and in later times walking around the Docks Brownie 127 in hand looking at Ships?
Answers on a Toggle please ;)
