John H Vincent was built as an R.N. Pinnace, her former name was 'Lady Margaret' and was based on the Tees at Thornaby, her Topsides have not changed since since my Uncle had her all those years ago, he kept her immaculate and she was an L.R. Vessel.

Excellent data
From MNL.1937-1940, no builder or year of build shown, unfortunately
Registered at Goole as LADY MARGARET on 07/05/1936, owner Dempster H. Lister (and others), 2 Union Street, Heckmondwike
42.0 x 12.8 x 5.4 ft, 19grt, 12 nrt, 49bhp motor vessel.
Not listed in Merchant Navy List 1947.

Just noticed that on my photo of her stern there's C.6015 (?) painted on the board below the davits. Could that be an old naval number that has survived? If not, then maybe some river/canal registration number.

G.A. N.E. Thank You for the further information, I can remember my Uncle rebuilt her in the 1940's on the wet slips behind your Grandparents house in Thornaby Place next to Pickersgills Boatyard and not far from his Engineering business on that little Trading Estate the other side of the railway tracks, as his intention was to take her to sea I am sure that he put twin engines in her along with the shaft logs. As far as the number I must pass on that only to say that the designation C was used by the Admiralty on Aux Craft, no idea if it applied to the L.M. She was certainly on the Lloyds Register of Motor Yachts in1947. Regards, Ron@2.

More information has come through t'internet via very reliable sources regarding the John H Vincent ex Lady Margaret and a few other names inbetween. Interesting she is back at Goole as that is where she did her War Service, taken over on Govt Charter from Owners and then outright by M.O.W.T. she was apparently attached to the Fire Brigade at Goole. Anybody on site with connections to Goole Fire Brigade or Port Authority perchance?

Got this from local sources at Goole

"She is owned by Roy Scott (skippered Sobriety) and is in a pretty poor state. She was sunk for several months about a year ago at Rawcliffe Bridge and the fire brigade had to pump her out. I remember before the Museum went bust Roy was trying to replace the decks in order to sell her on, but I think the sinking had an adverse effect on all that."

Pity, as there's a group looking for a historical trip boat to run at Goole to replace the tug WHELDALE, but as you see they don't see JHV as a runner.

Ron, from info below, she must have got the name LADY MARGARET when reg. at Goole in 1936, also motorised then ... so your Uncle John must have bought her post-war and had her into 1960's, putting on the upperworks she still has. The next owner(s) must have some connection with the name Vincent?
Does anyone have Merch Navy Lists from late 60's onwards, to look for her under ON.164892?
