Saddened today to learn that Charlie Hill passed away this morning at age 88 after a few weeks in hospital. A real gent of the old school, very modest in his achievements and his generosity in freely sharing his extensive photographs going back to the late 1940's plus albums of pre-war shipping. Post 27A in the Ouse at Swinefleet became almost a trademark for him, being situated close by his riverside cottage at Swinefleet. He entered the digital age with some reluctance but achieved equally good results, aided by his long-term pal Peter Robinson. Charlie's photos can be found in several shipping publications and the negatives are held by the W.S.S. These photos are his legacy and memorial. R.I.P.
