Original Owner as HULL MILLER was Channel Coasters Ltd., Colchester. A subsidiary of Spillers Ltd and managed by London & Rochester.
April 1981: Channel Coasters Ltd and the Ship were acquired by The London and Rochester Trading Co. Ltd., Rochester.
5th May 1981. Renamed XANTHENCE.

The contributing cause of the collision was thick fog.

This was when Crescent (or London & Rochester as we oldies prefer to remember them!) were getting increasingly desperate in continuing their obsession with the alphabetical sequence, so we got WESTERENCE, XANTHENCE, YULENCE and ZEALENCE!

Never the most elegant of ships at least the square stern did make the most of the crew accommodation. However I'm not sure how much I would like to be aboard in light condition with a good sea running. Deadweight was 690 tons with ballest of 236 tons they were classed 100A1 at Lloyds but restricted to UK Home Trade Service.
