What!! No Apples onboard NE? Who can forget the line of of we schoolboys outside the Headmistress’s study to walk in one by one and receive an apple wrapped in blue tissue paper, a present from the Canadian Government.
Perhaps we have caught on with what the Dutch do and store the Grain in Rafts of covered Dumb Barges to be emptied when and where required. No Rates to pay unlike a land installation and of course no broaching unless a boat is available.

The British Government of course did store huge amounts Grain which was rotated during the Cold War(is it finished? Perhaps not) in specially converted Hangers on redundant Airfields, the three I have seen were at York, Driffield and Little Rissington which also had a 1,000 bed Hospital using the H Blocks financed by the Americans in the event of, for American Servicemen only. The beds and equipment were all cocooned and were checked on a regular basis by the Americans.

I suspect it's for the Vivergo plant at Saltend to make biofuel.
