RONA (6110596), 152gt, completed Wm Denny & Bros., Dumbarton, 3-1938

Although now recorded in Miramar (which is to be preserved "as is" with no further updating) she was not at that time included in Lloyd's Register so did not go into my recorded list of ship sightings. It was some time later, when WSS published a small pamphlet about the Scottish Fishery Protection Service that I spotted her listed therein. NOw, with the internet, I have found some fuller details, although it will be seen that her ultimate fate is not known. The entry gives: Built in 1938 by Wm Denny & Bros Ltd, Dumbarton for fishery protection duties but requisitioned by the Royal Navy in 1939 for service as an examination vessel in the Firth of Clyde. Resumed service with the Department in 1946 until she was sold in 1971 to Hutton & Co (Ship &
Chandlers) Ltd, Hull for oil rig service at Lowestoft. She was sold again in 1972 but no further details are known.

Her sale to Hull owners in 1971 explains why I saw her at Hull - 2 October 1972:

A vessel very similar to this was scrapped on the Tees, unfortunately her name now escapes me.
