As ATHENA and something of her history see also: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1842

Yes, Patrick, my wife Anne and myself joined her at Hull for an around UK tour, and we just got back home this afternoon (via Goole and the Trent as usual). A lovely old ship, well worth sailing on her if anyone can manage it.

If she arrived on 1 September as early as she did this morning - you must have been up really early!
She docked by 5.30am and we were ashore about 7.30am!

Obviously, I've now a lot to catch up, loads of photos to edit, so may be some time before any relevant ones are posted to NEM.

Yes I was Ron, still rather dark when I arrived at Paull. Fortunately she had to hold fire in the river off Killingholme to allow the Zeebrugge ferry to dock first so the light had improved greatly by the time she passed us, first shot 06:51. Spotted last night she was due back in but much too early.

Astoria at North Shields this morning on a bleak and uninviting day.

Sadly it looks like no more cruise ships to Hull in the near future, CMV have gone into administration - https://www.cruiseandmaritime.com/

COVID must surely spell the death knell for the old STOCKHOLM, after 72 years ... nearly as old as me!

She was already pencilled in to make her last cruise from Hull this year - obviously not going to happen now. Glad I managed to catch her last year.

Quite a saga, due at Falmouth, pilots would not board due to ladder being over her sponsons, then headed for Weymouth and now quoted as Flushing!
