50 YEARS AGO TODAY!

After a couple of relatively lean years of ship observing and photography caused partly, as I recall, by studying for an HNC qualification, among other things, and having passed my driving test towards the end of 1969 and then got a set of wheels, I decided my 1970 annual holiday would be a round Britain tour of what I then regarded as the major ports.
With hindsight, and knowledge gained over more recent years, there were quite anumber of ports I managed to ignore in my envisaged schedule. Among them Goole, Grimsby, Immingham, the Thames and London docks (somehow!)
Anyway, Saturday, 1 August 1970 dawned and I srt off, armed with dock passes and permits for all the ports I planned to visit. The only port that refused to issue a pass was, somewhat surprisingly, the then recently formed Port of Tyne Authority.

First stop, Hull and I will present my photos in the order they were taken.
