My father managed to get us a visit to look around the Fasan sometime during the 1950's. It would have been August as we would have been at Bridlington. A company in Hull called Lep who handled raw wool imports for the mill where he worked got us the visit
I remember being told that the Fasan was bombed by "your" RAF during the war and was salvaged and a new half fitted but can't remember which half!! ( it felt strange being told this by the German captain)I seem to think the sailings were from Albert Dock.

Regards
Michael

Michael, yes it would be Albert Dock and not later than 1958 as FASAN was sold that year to Hellenic Mediterranean Lines as MEDIA, eventually broken up in 1968. She had been built in 1936 by Howaldstwerke at Kiel and is shown as having been bombed and sunk 21/11/1944 so most likely by 'one of ours' in one of the German ports. Raised in 1949 and repaired. Argo Line was owned by the Adler family and I met 'old man' Max Adler in Hamburg in 1968 so he must have been involved in the line through the war, later we did business with his son Dieter Adler.

Better looking than her "Sister" Fasan which appears to have a rather big nose (Funnel) which looks like it has been taken off another larger vessel and fitted in her post Bombing refit.. :)
