Seen recently still at Whitby but appears to have had a bulb fitted to the bow.

She's still at Whitby, and looks like she's part way through a re-paint job.

Hello all I have just joined this forum after looking up info on the above tug. Can anyone tell me if this boat ever had an engine in as a friend of mine who was working at Parkol tells me it has never had engine or shaft installed however I find that hard to believe considering it was built in 1955. But having said that the hull has no signs of any damage.

Welcome Chris.
Yes of course, most certainly operated as a powered tug, I will seek out the details of the power plant.
I assumed the engine must be still in her, but it seems not?

I wish I had a memory !!
I have a feeling that I read somewhere on the web, that the hull lines had been copied and a new hull built. This may be a load of tosh, but if not would explain the comment that she had never had an engine in her. I will see if I can find the article again.

The succession of photos over the years surely point to this being the same hull .... who on earth would build a new replica of an ST?
Still, strange things happen .... even in Whitby

I agree, who would? and that is what is sticking in my mind. Can't find the reference now so probably "tosh" as I first said.

TugTalk might provide an answer .... or prove beyond doubt that you are indeed making a very large Airfix ST in your bedroom

Found the article:
http://derij.co.uk/news/marine-eng/27-65-tug-surveyThe article first starts talking about extending the existing hull but the final paragraph mentions a bespoke hull. Doesn't actually say that they were going to replace the ABLE ONE hull, but implies it I think.
