2011 SIGHTING - A SHIP AT WHITBY!

For some strange reason I decided to wend my way homewards from Paull on the Humber by using the coastal roads, instead of heading back for the M62/A1/A19 route which would have been much, much quicker! Having reached the West Cliff at Whitby I noticed an unusual sight off the piers - something that looked like a real ship. Or was it just a luxury yacht, was really my first thought. Unable to identify her even with a zoom image from my digital camera, the matter was resolved by reference to AIS.
Yes, this really was a cruise ship! LE DIAMANT (7325629), France, 8282gt, completed Kristiansand S 2-1974 L as FERNHILL - 1974 BEGONIA - 86 EXPLORER STARSHIP - 89 SONG OF FLOWER - 04 LE DIAMANT. Presumably, some of her passengers were ashore enjoying the true delights of Whitby, but I do wonder what was going on off her stern - some people on the platform at the waterline, others actually in the sea astern!?
