Completed at Baltimore in 1944 as SAMCHESS she became ALPHA MOOI in 1947 and the following year was sold to Somerset SS Co. Ltd, London to become PORLOCK HILL
As ALPHA MOOI she was owned by Alpha South African SS Co. which was a subsidiary of Moller Line which owned the shipyard at Blyth.
Most likely this is the first cargo, coal at Bates, for her new owners, controlled by Counties Ship Management Ltd.
21.12.1951: Stranded near Famagusta in heavy weather and broke in two and was declared a total loss
1952: tern section was refloated and broken up in Italy
