HMS Blyth

Postby creemaster » Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:08 pm

On her last visit to the port of her name HMS BLYTH arrived last Friday and departed yesterday, Monday.
Officially the word is decommissioned which means either sold to another country, mothballed and cannibalised for spares for her younger siblings or, at worst, recycled.

Awning out for the good weather makes her suited for Hong Kong or Singapore station

Decommissioned today
Ukraine here she comes!
That's if either us or the Ukrainians have the charts required to get her there.

Awning up usually means Cocktail Party for distinguished Guests in European waters and possibly some 'Smuggled" drinks and Canapés? below for those who did not have the run ashore due to their Duties or otherwise ;)

The first time I was in the Baltic was on a Red "V". Yacht Minesweeping which I see is still going on, I certainly wouldn't want to eat Sea food from that region due to the amount of munitions that was dumped there :o
I wonder if they give the Ships Bell to Blyth Town Council or do the M.O.D. hang on to it these days?

Yep, I thought that too.
If they gave the bell to Blyth Town Council they would probably pawn it to pay for a couple of litter pickers.
That's the implements not the folk that use them
And if the Navy have not paid for it then it will probably have to go back to the foundry that cast it
