ALERT

[Dennis Maccoy]

Completed by the Blyth Drydocks & Shipbuilding Co in 1946, the Dispatch Vessel Alert seen at the breakers in Inverkeithing on 31 October 1971 outboard of the Type 15 frigate conversion Wakeful. Alert was ordered as the Loch class frigate Loch Scamadale, modified during build to the Bay class Dundrum Bay and finally completed as a Dispatch Vessel.

Looks like a Porpoise Class sub inbetween, but can't be, too early. So what is it? An A?

Two A class I think Dave, that have completely defeated my attempts at identification. I think we need the assistance of BrianH or Ian Buxton!

H T Lenton shows Amphion (ex- Anchorite), Alaric and Ambush all arriving at Inverkeithing in July 1971 - take ypur pick!

Wakeful and Ambush arrived from Rosyth on 5 July 1971, Alaric and Amphion on 6/7 with Alert arriving from Plymouth 31/10.

This does not really help with what the view shows.
