Now this did surprise me! Its cheaper for the Company disposing of the waste to pay for it to shipped to Norrkoping and burnt as fuel than to pay for it to go to Landfill in this Country....

Seems to be a regular trade, we get the baled rubbish shipped out of Hull and I think I saw going as far as Romania. Which is nonsense on several counts, how much fuel is burned to move it for it to be burned, and if countries like Sweden can incinerate it in power stations, why can't we?
Equally, all our plastics, glass and cardboard here carefully put in 'blue bins' are trucked to some major sorting depot near Birmingham, how much diesel fuel is burned doing that!!
None of this 'green' waste disposal seems to be assessed on a total cost/effect basis.
