I have the following recorded as an apparently unregistered name (1974-1979) for this vessel,
the first of this name in the fleet.
SHELL SPIRIT 2 (5322386), 440gt, completed Kinderdijk 1-1939
1939 SHELL SPIRIT 2 - 1972 BERMONDSEY ....
BU Blyth 1979 [Hughes Bolckow Ltd]. Paul - can you confirm her name from your records?

River Tees - 30 August 1977:

Just wondering if, in view of her name reflecting that of her owners, she may in fact have been the first in the fleet, rather than the CHERRYBOBS (1), both appearing on the river in 1974, it would seem?

Paul,

Thanks for that confirmation.

Shipbroker Geoff and Clydebrae John will probably keep me right, but I suspect Eddie Appleton = Cherry Marine = Marine Partners = Tees Partners ... all in use at one time or another, and probably also simultaneously!

According to Miramar the BLACK KNIGHT built 1960 became the PORTFIELD in 1981 and subsequently: foundered Pembroke Dock 5.11.90 & BU there 1993 [M.R.J.Phillips Metals Ltd]

Her sistership BOLD KNIGHT did come to the Tees and became the CHERRYBEE in about 1984, although apparently not officially registered under that name. See:http://www.northeastmaritime.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=8378

I believe the details shown at the top of this page are a correct history for this vessel.
