Guess this would be after her sale by the French and refurb along with her sisters at South Bank.

George,

Ah, although I did see the JALAMANJARI in Middlesbrough Dock on 9 June 1964, which would be soon after she was renamed, I must admit I don't recall cottening on to the fact that the work on these former French ships was done at Smith's.

The slight puzzle, based on what you say, is that the JALAMOHAN is clearly inbound off the Eston Jetty area in Albert's photo, presumably headed for Middlesbrough Dock unless her transfer to Scindia was then still to be finished off at Smith's?

Could be for the Dock or just returning to Smith's from trials.
The full list was
JALAMAYA ex VIERZON
JALAMANGALA ex CROZON
JALAMOTI ex GAILLON
JALAMADHURI ex LANNION
JALAMOHAN ex CHALON
JALAMANJARI ex MEUDON
all built in France 1954/56 and sold and renamed at Smith's in 1964.

Surely you remeber that JALAMANJARI distinguished herself by having a little rest close by The Heugh, I think this was during trials.
I remember getting a lift round there to see her, broadside port to the shoreline.
Here is Harry Appleyard's photo which he sent for my old site:-

JALAMANJARI (5233676), India, 4510gt, completed Grand Quevilly 5-1956, ex Meudon-64.
1970 HARILION (Greece), 1972 broken up.
She had just replaced the Liberty ship of the name broken up earlier that year.

For what they are worth, my Box Brownie shots of her in Middlesbrough Dock, 9 June 1964.

I was then to see the JALAMADHURI later that same month, but on the Clyde.

Aground on the Heugh .... 48 years ago .... which I remember just like yesterday .... which is total nothing
(well, maybe just a glimmer of vague, distant memory)!
