If RIEVAULX was discharging iron ore that seems to be an unusual berth? The only one I can recall being used was the one to the left of the lock, where they could discharge to rail wagons I think mainly for Skinningrove.

She would be discharging Phosrock from North Africa for Billingham ICI.

Ships of her size were too deep to get up to Billingham Reach when loaded so they
discharged into lorries at10 W (nearest berth to the gate). Sometimes they moved
up to the Reach wharf when a bit lighter.

When they were discharging the roads round Bridge Street,
Albert Road and Cannon St to Newport Bridge where white where the lorries
spilled a bit. It was due to lorry congestion that the crazy
one way system round Bridge street was started.

Rievaulx....in the days I was involved with her from 1958 to mid 70's she never did other than iron ore,as far as I remember.
With regard to Middlesbrough Dock we (BISC(ore)Ltd) had up to three vessels in the dock discharging at once....In winter of 1960/61 I remember calling on Globe Trader,Sirefjell, and,I think,Iron Ore or Age same day.

But...I could be wrong!
