ANGLOBEL (5017632), British, 806gt, completed Martenshoek 5-1953
1953 WANSBECK - 1961 ANGLOBEL - 1967 BELL CONCORD - 1969 CONCORD -
1970 BLUE CALYPSO - 1973 ANNAPI - 1975 IKARIAN SEA - 1979 GEORGIOS H -
1985 AGHIOS MAKARIOS - 1989 MARINA IV - 1989 FATIMA - 1997 KAMAR -
1999 MAYA - 0202 DOU DOU - deleted 1.1.2003 - existence in doubt

NEM connections. As WANSBECK owned by Wansbeck Sg Co Ltd., and registered Newcastle. As ANGLOBEL owned by Highseas Ltd., also registered Newcastle.

On 11 November 1961 (Remembrance Day) after seeing the YENI MESERRET (see: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28290) I recorded the coaster ANGLOBEL as my final sighting that day. That means she must have been berthed up at the sheerlegs end of Tyne-Tees/Dent's Wharves. After 60 years memory is vague but when I looked up her history I am fairly certain it reminded me that the previous April, during my first visit to the Hartlepools, I had spotted a ship with the name WANSBECK but for some reason I had not been able to trace her, although I did find the EMPIRE WANSBECK which was still in service at that time.
Anyway, although I did not photograph the ANGLOBEL at that time she was to cross my path again several years later during her brief spell under the name CONCORD.
Leith - 10 August 1970:

Now I also find her in my negative collection as AGHIOS MAKARIOS sent to me by Mike Grima of Malta:
