Teesside and Humber port regions announced as among eight new freeport areas in budget today.

BBC news item about this at: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55819489

I won't claim to understand all the implications but hopefully can generally be regarded as good news for the ports concerned.

Ron, we could do with another RoRo Terminal beside the River rather than in the Dock. Ron@?

Not forgetting our superb Mayor Mr Houchen who is going to completely change the face of the South Bank of the Tees at some point in the future, if he doesn't hurry up the scrap thieves will have the whole Works dismantled in no time even taking away the Security notices as souvenirs :D

Private Eye will always have a Jaundiced view no matter what the subject matter is Ron, most of our "British" Companies are owned by Johnnie Foreigner including the Chinese who seem to have a foot in most of the land masses in the World that is the downside, the upside is that hopefully ' British' Companies Pension Schemes have been invested in these Companies, well barring for Chinese of course but in saying that a lot of British Companies have their manufacturing base there like Dyson who shut his Plant down in Malmesbury (barring for his design offices) putting his loyal workers who built up his company on the Pancrack and moved there only to find and moan that just up the road in China companies were making exact copies of his products and selling them a lot cheaper, now I understand that he has bought a large part of the old RAF Hullavington Airfield and is switching back there. Hopefully his former loyal workforce have found good jobs in the meantime and give him the elbow he deserves. Mind you he does own a lovely Motor Yacht ( just so there is no thread drift away from maritime matters :) ) Ron@?
