HARBURG (1967)

HARBURG (6716675), Germany (West Germany at that time), 499gt, completed Hamburg 7-1967 (according to Miramar).
1967 HARBURG - 82 HARBURG I - 83 SEA CLOUD - 87 LIMA - 87 TOURBO - 88 AMWAGE - 92 AMIR M - 97 AMIR -
BU Alang 26.3.08, beached 29.3.08.

Big bit of doubt here over the above completion date. Why?
The German coaster HARBURG is reputed to have been the first container ship to use the Tees and berthed at Middlesbrough Wharf.
Here, on 6 June 1967, the Tees Floating Crane assists her operations.
In the background the NORSEMAN is fitting out at the Furness shipyard, Haverton Hill.

QED!! (and I have double checked my date is right!)

On 25 July 1967 I was to see her again sailing from the Tees.

Albert Weller's slide of the early container terminal on Middlesbrough Wharf (former Tyne-Tees/Dent's) circa May 1968:

There must have been a gap in that fence on the right as I once managed to follow the riverside right round to Gjers Mills wharf.
