Although maybe it and I did not know it at the time, this was the last photo I took with my Box Brownie type camera which was now to go into retirement after 4 years in action!

It seems like I missed her on the Tees, but caught her much later at Hull 31/12/1973!
Looks like POLYFREEDOM in background, not launched until 01/03/1967.

p.s. how come you could balance on the quay edge in 1966 when I had been chased off back in 1961?!!

Obviously, some faces fit - and some didn't!!
As far as I recall from those very early days I was only ever asked once at each of Middlesbrough Dock and Tyne-Tees/Dent's Wharves why I was there, and whatever I said was accepted each time - I was never chased off!
Of course, from mid-1964 I was working for TCC and from the beginning of January 1967 these and those two dock/wharves (among others)were joined together in the new THPA. That of itself, did not confer any rights on me going round the docks, I simply never had any problems back then .... but just try to do the same nowadays!!!!!
This has reminded me of an incident at Tyne-Tees/Dent's Wahrves when I was actually invited, by passing customs men, to go on board an "old tub" lying alongside. That ship was the YENI MESSERET and I have now found what I wrote about her on TEESSHIPS and, as she does have an NEM connection, I will now add the story and photo to our pages.

Echoes of that song 'the first time ever I saw your face' .... I did eventually recover :D :D
That would be the old WAR GANNET / TREWYN then from Readhead's ... look forward to the story.
