Looking back at my TEESSHIPS entry for this vessel in May 2001 it seems my warped sense of humour got the better of me!
Oh, the sheer gall of it! The GOL in Tees Dock on 13 June 1968 with the rolling hills of Cleveland in the background. Actually, we hadn't become Cleveland at that time, we were just into being known as Teesside (hence our TS post code - you mean you didn't know that?). Actually, they are the Eston Hills, which contain the mountain of Roseberry Topping. That is, if it has not yet eroded to below 1,000 feet to become only a hill!
Come to think of it, we're not Cleveland any longer, either. The problem is nobody bothered to tell us where we now are! So we're the lost tribes of North Yorkshire once again, at least for true blooded Yorkshiremen like myself. Yes, Middlesbrough is/was Yorkshire. Over the other side of the river? Well - you're into County Durham!

50 YEARS AGO TODAY!

New scan from original negative. Tees Dock - 13 June 1968:

The next photo, also in Tees Dock, was of the RECLAMATION PLANT. Of course, I cannot now locate the original negative to show an improved view! But see: viewtopic.php?f=139&t=4918
