This reminded me of how it all began for me, having first seen the AYUTHIA (No. 1 in my record of sightings) in fog on Saturday, 19 November 1960.

Monday, 21 November 1960, my friend and I decided to go down the docks straight from school. It was dark and pouring down with rain. However, we walked all round the dock and noted five ships - the AYUTHIA not among them.
No. 2: JALADUHITA; No. 3: KOHISTAN; No. 4: FAVORITA; No. 5: CITY OF YORK; No. 6: SIREFJELL

Now what strikes me as interesting, in view of recent Forum discussions, is that on that day there were two ore/bulk carriers in dock! Some time after the event, but before memory faded completely as it has by now(!!), I added into my notebook the berths these ships were in to the best of my recollection. The JALADUHITA and KOHISTAN (on her maiden voyage) were in the middle leg nearest the footbridge. The CITY OF YORK was definitely on 10 Quay West, the normal Ellerman berth, certainly for their larger ships. My recollection was that the FAVORITA was on 10 Quay East, ahead of her, while the veteran SIREFJELL was on the oil/bulk cargo berth, same location as shown for the FOGLARO and other ships shown on NEM.

Looks like they had finished repainting by the time Mick saw her.
