Interesting photo. "Double banked" with Brocklebanks "Mahseer" or "Matra"
( 3 samson posts at No 5 hatch ) presumably at No.2 or 3 quays (only one crane)
but why were they there and not at the "Working quays" ?????

Tony,

Well spotted! My notebook confirms she was alongside the MATRA.
Don't know why they were double-banked, although the dock was quite busy that day.
Other ships in Middlesbrough Dock, 21 April 1967, were:
SONGKHLA, COROMANDEL, SETIABUDHI, W.J.H. WOOD (laid-up), CITY OF YORK, INDUSTRIA, plus these two.

It's probably time we featured a map of Middlesbrough Dock for our archives, so here goes!
map-middlesbrough-dock.jpg

The quays are not numbered, but the CLAN MACINNES/MATRA were on the right-hand side of the V formation at the bottom.
COROMANDEL and SONGKHLA were on 10 Quay West and 10 Quay East (top of map); W.J.H. WOOD on the short section of quay upper right; SETIABUDHI on 9 Quay (bottom part of upper leg); and CITY OF YORK and INDUSTRIA in the middle leg.

Hope that makes sense?

That would put them on No. 2 Quay, Ron.

The Quays were numbered clockwise from No 1 where the dockmasters office is shown
round to No.11. No's 1 and 11 being either side of the entrance. No 10 quay at the
top of the plan had 2 berths, 10 East and 10 West.

The "Tricky Bit" was getting a ship into 6 or 7 with a ship already at
either, similarly into No 9 or 10W with a ship at the other. No
room for the head tug !!
