For Harry...........One of The Oceans, The Forts and The Parks.

One of the "North Sands" Type built to conform with the original British Working Drawings provided by the North Sands shipyard of J L Thompson & Sons. The first ships were 90% riveted.
On the 20th April 1941 the Hyde Park Declaration was signed by the US and Canada, where the US purchased 90 ships and transfered them to Britain on bareboat charter on Lease-Lend Terms. After the war they were retuirned to the United States Maritime Commission.

The FORT GASPEREAU was Delivered on the 13th January 1943 and returned to the USA in 1947.

My Uncle was Master of the FORT CEDAR LAKE which was delivered on the 12th December 1942 and sunk by Submarine Torpedo on the 17th March 1943, South East of Cape Farewell.
