Cairngowan  +.jpg
Completed by Wm.Gray & Co. Ltd. in 1952 she was designed for the Canadian service of the Cairn Line of Newcastle.
Taken on a blustery day judging by the waves coming over Tynemouth Pier and the animated look of the water around the ship.
Not the sharpest of images, my excuse is the difficulty in holding an old folding bellows camera still in the prevailing conditions, coupled with the limited shutter speeds offered by the camera! (sheepish grin).

CAIRNGOWAN (5057280): 7503gt; Cairn Line of Steamships Ltd;
completed Wm. Gray, West Hartlepool, 5-1952
1965 MANCHESTER ENGINEER; 1966 CAIRNGOWAN; 1969 GEORGILIS (Cyprus); BU Gandia 6.9.73 [Hierros Ardes]

Nostalgic shots of the CAIRNGOWN, while bearing that name for the second time (and thereby becoming a new sighting), which I took at Hull on 4 July 1967. The bow view might be better captioned floating grain silo with the CAIRNGOWAN!
