KOHISTAN

On a sunny afternoon in 1971 Strick's KOHISTAN arrives in Hartlepool with a cargo of iron ore

from India. The KOHISTAN had been built at South Shields in 1960 for Strick's service to the Persian Gulf

Did'nt recall they were used as 'ore boats' but yes there was an Indian source, Mormugao I think?
Saw this one on her maiden voyage arrival into M'bro Dock, 27July 1960. One of the few times I ever caught anything on the move in the cut!

Now that's quite amazing!!!!

I saw her on her maiden voyage in Middlesbrough Dock on Monday, 21 November 1960; ship sighting no. 3.

Completed (per Miramar) 8.11.60.

Ah well spotted, July date was when I first saw her, fitting out! But did see her coming into the dock, seem to remember I was on the 'football stadium' side of the bridge as she came through, odd how these things stick in your memory (but not what I had for tea today).

completed Readhead, South Shields, 11-1960
1960 KOHISTAN - 1975 STRATHASLAK - 1978 QUINCY - BU Gadani Beach 19.1.83 [Five Star Sg Co Ltd]

Middlesbrough Dock - 31 July 1975, quite possibly in the same berth where I had first seen her on that rainy Monday night as the KOHISTAN.
