I know it is not a ship but it did play its part in why ships came to Seaham

Steam locos were my real interest until their demise. I think the photo was taken at Seaham Colliery

Like you Michael, it was all steam trains until some time in late 1950's when they started to disappear off the branch lines like M'bro-Saltburn (which passed by the end of our street in Redcar) but by mid-1959 I was into ships instead and here we are 58 years later who would have thought it, though modern ships hold little of real interest. Nostalgia rules in our twilight years!
