Not just barges and container ships that get stranded between banks, here is Dave Waller's photo of LAGIK at Sutton Bridge, January 2001.

Would have loved to have been in the Wheelhouse when this happened and the blame game started, no risk assessment? TTTTTT and no Pollution Plan ?TTTTTT. Typical Chief " don't damage my Propellor"

Well at least she is flying the correct flag....

But why do the reporters always describe it as a Giant Vessel......

"The vessel was eventually declared a constructive loss and efforts were put in place to pull it from the river using other ships with cranes attached and with the help of salvage experts who cut the giant vessel into three pieces."

At least they did point out that the "Bow" was at the front and the "Stern" was at the back. :ugeek:

I would like to see the "Risk Assessment for entering a hot Main Engine Crankcase, oil dripping down, trying to stay upright whilst the ship is rolling around the North Atlantic. Just can't imagine asking for a "Risk Assessment " before entering, the Shipping Company would have you on the next flight home if and when the ship managed to reach Port.
