OK one answer is easy. PIT PROPS.
The area on the west side of Tyne Dock was used for timber storage and the short jetties are marked as "Prop Jetties". Operators were Edmund Robson & Co, James Henderson etc..
Pit Props were a standard length, each layer being stacked at right angles to the one below.
The Slipway is not listed as being in use and was probably an old building or repair yard.
The only repair yards operating from Tyne Dock at the time were T R Dowson & co Ltd (Down River Side) and Anthony Proud Ltd. (Tyne Dock West Side.). Neither yard had a slipway.
