From her build especially around the bow, and funnel colours, BRITANNIA might well be the J. Currie of Leith steamer of 1885, 727grt by Morton, Leith and lost on the Farne Islands 25/09/1915. Later vessels of the name/owner seem far less likely.

Are any NEM members knowledgeable about early vehicles? The van visible above the bow of the Britannia and the car visible aft of the Moselle's funnel seem more 1920s vintage than pre-1915.

And the little steam barge must have been a local craft, well worth identifying.

I posted a link to this photo on TugTalk and one of the site stalwarts, David Asprey, sent me an email saying that in his opinion the BRITANNIA is ex-THROPTON ex-HMS KILLINEY. See

Ah, I did think I had seen that bow before, ex WW1 gunboat indeed, one of many converted to merchant ships.
