Vessel at the quay is the 1920 American built West Hika. She was wrecked off Seaham 15.01.1936 and was broken up at Blyth in 1937.

So she must have made other voyages to the Tyne between 1931 and 1935. That's not the only Post Card to feature her either, I'm sure there are others, which I might eventually manage to find!

Now the bit I really like is "Priestman's Coke Nuts" this could be linked to other companies selling "Uncle Joe's Mint Balls".

It seems that Priesman's had owned mines in the Durham area in the early 1800's and the company was dissolved in 1957.

They lasted quite a long time then, although the Company may not have been actively trading up to 1957.

Presumably not the Priestman of dredger fame? Although the founders of that company did have strong links with the NEM area! See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Dent_Priestman
