5live this morning reported on rising number of catalytic convertor thefts from vans and lorries for the high value of the metals inside them

The Police are investigating the dissapearence of the Tyne Bridge and believe it may be linked to a similar theft further south when the Tees Transporter Bridge was stolen and later recovered in Arizona.
They think that a local gang have come out of retirement and sold off the Tyne Bridge in order to raise funds for "Sunday for Sammy" which supports local talent. An ex policeman is believed to be using his inside knowledge to avoid the local police.
