That's a nice one, maybe a little Smith's Dock tug (?) heading past 2 sister tankers waiting to be identified!

And one Kevin has not got..... 8-)

The two Tankers belong to Tankers Limited of London which was founded in 1920.

Amongst others they had four built at Barrow 1921/22:- MAIDEN, MUSICIAN, MINSTREL and STANDARD.

SCOTTISH AMERICAN was built at Sunderland in 1920 and BORDERER at Dumbarton in 1923.

Local Builds as far as I can see in a quick check were all by Armstrong Whitworth.

1922. SCOTTISH CASTLE and STRATH.

1928. SCOTTISH CHIEF and HEATHER.

All were approx 7,000 Gross.

Now which ones these are remains to be seen!!

The PS COLLINGWOOD was built by J P Rennoldson & Sons in 1895 and survived until 1940.
Contract Price was £2,710 and she was built of Iron. 267 Passengers.

Further details should be on Dave's Tyne Built Website so I will not repeat them.

So that narrows the date of the Card to between 1920 and 1940!!

Being of the younger generation on this site, or youngest ?, am I right that this was taken from South Shields looking towards the fish quay.
And never mind the tankers note the list of the vessel astern of then

Nope.........

It was probably taken from the Market Place Ferry Landing at North Shields. The COLLINGWOOD operated on the Direct Ferry route which departed from a smaller landing just down river from the present one. The Market Place Ferry went to a Landing by the Alum House Pub, more or less where it is now.
As its name implies the Direct Ferry went by the shortest route and landed at the end of Wapping Street by what was Brigham and Cowans. Renoldson's yard was just a wee bit further down. The buildings are on the Lawe Top.

So the tankers are at Brighams, then the next vessel to the left is at Rennoldson's Engine Works (guessing here) and then a clutch of funnels far left would be one of the two Rennoldson yards.

JP Rennoldson's last ship was 1926 and Charles Rennoldson's last was in 1924 but I don't think the yards finally closed till nearer 1929. So this might narrow the date of the photo to 1920 to 1929.
