No date on this card but the ferry is called Walker. I tried scanning the vessels in the background for names but, alas, they don't have any.
Mr. Magoonigal may be able to date the ferry.

I have a fair idea based on a photo comparison that the broadside vessel is one of the pair built for Cie. Sud Atlantique in 1922, MEDUANA and MOSELLA, the first caught fire and capsized while fitting out in 11/1920 so was delayed.
Thought astern might be one of the Cunard pair LACONIA/AURANIA but they don't match, neither do any of the Ellerman passenger ships of same period.

OK then,

As George says first ship is either the MEDUANA or the MOSELLA.

Well I think its the first one, MEDUANA fitting out just before she went on fire and capsized.

LACONIA is on the berth about to be boxed in and the ship to the right is the French MENDOZA which went on trials on the 1st October 1920.

The MEDUANA went of fire in November 1920.

.
The SS Mendoza, a Ministry of War Transport liner of 8,233 tons sailing from Mombasa, South Africa, was sunk on November 1st, 1942 by the U-178 (Kpt. Z.See, Hans Ibekken) near its destination, Durban. The Mendoza blew up taking the lives of 28 of her crew and 122 service personnel.
The U-178 was scuttled on August 25th., 1944, at Bordeaux, France.

Opps sorry about the double picture. It posted two of the second one so I got rid of one then its posted two of the first one.........

Another clue is the framwork for the cover over the foredeck.

Not sure I can agree re MENDOZA, Paul, seems to me too many differences in the bridge front and accomm style, also a much taller funnel.
It could of course be a post-war refit job so not in SHWR sequence at this period.

I was looking at the well on the foredeck just below the bridge, but looking at Kevins picture again I'm not sure that there is one.......Hmmm

Might not even be a Swans "New Build".

Not had a chance to go through my list yet but trials dates for the period are:-

MENDOZA 1st Oct 1920
MODASA 8th Dec 1921. She was BI so wrong funnel.
LAMORICIERE. 15th Jan 1921.
ALSINA 24th Feb 1922.
LESTRIS. 5th Sept. 1921
ALL AMERICA. 11th Oct 1921.
LACONIA. 21st April 1922.
CITY OF PARIS 24th Sept 1921.
MEDUANA. 25th Oct 1922.
MARIE LOUSIE MACKAY 3rd Aug 1922.
DANDOLO 10th Jun 1921
MOSELLA 10th Jan 1922.
ALFRED HARRISON To Small.
MONTFERLAND 17th Aug 1921
MIRAFLORES 6th May 1921.

The problems with MEDUANA has extended the time period a wee bit! Could be between the 30th Sept 1920 to the 25th October 1922.

I think the ship we are looking at has more than one funnel and is fitted out for service in the Tropics????????

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh for time travel.

Some of those in Paul's list are Neptune yard so presumably would not be here? Also includes some small ships, cable vessels etc.
