Shipping of Sunderland and the Wear

Westergate no. 85063

Postby T4bsF » Sun Sep 17, 2017 9:32 pm

I found this ship on the site and know from Crew lists and dates that my Grandfather served at the start of WW1 on this ship. I have added the date and other information to his profile on my Family Tree, but would like to add a picture of his ship too. However, I noticed that it is covered by copyright and it says that you are not allowed to reproduce it without the permission of the copyright owner - this being

Would anyone know how can I ask permission???

Although it's credited to 'collection of Richard Cox', it's taken from a well-known series of old steamer photos taken on the River Avon close to Bristol, often referred to as 'the York collection'. With its age, it's almost certainly out of copyright protection and in any event, it's use 'not for profi't on your family site should not be a problem. Go ahead, and thanks for asking.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I have so much information about my Grandad - War Diaries etc., but I'm so pleased when I can find new information to add. :)
