It's not snow in the background - drifting alumina from the 'unloading facility'
In them days the north side of the river was Wansbeck District Council and the south side was Blyth Valley.
North side of the river had Alcan and the Power station sow when the wind was in the wrong direction the wags would say Wansbeck got the rates, Blyth's got the pollution
