By the funnel colours I would say these with BHC vessels, but not in George's list

Any information on them?

JOHN DENT 1907, 44grt by JP Rennoldson (252), broken up Blyth 02/1957 .... I had her noted as a tug but seems not.

My BHC list was base solely on a search for those initials so would not include any others.

So did I, but that is no excuse. I should have recognised the name as a Rennoldson. Thanks George

And who was the Blyth Harbour Master in 1910. None other than our own George Robinson. Middle initial J.

... and I was a Tees tug at some time also (sank just before I was born, though!).

What a bonny little boat this is, clearly used as an 'inspection yacht' by the Commissioners, wonderful little deckhouse aft, what a pity she was not preserved!
Can you read the names of the coal ships? Left one is from the SNC (Caen) fleet. This would help to date the photo.

Sorry George, I can't make out the name of the one on the left (enlargement below). The one on the right appears to be the BREMEN.

ON 124822. Registered Blyth 1931. (Purchased April 1931, named changed to CAMBOIS in July 1931.)
Built of Wood by Philip & Sons at Dartmouth for the Humber Conservancy, Hull and launched as the SPURN on the 14th July 1903.
Length 54.8 ft. Breadth 13.0 ft. Depth of Hold 5.4 ft.
Registered tonnage.........Net 10, Gross 22.
Twin 2 cyl compound engines possibly by Dalglish and Co Glasgow, (They Built her Boiler) giving a speed of 9.2 Kts.

I have a note she was broken-up at Blyth in 1967 but she's not in the Bolckow's List.

Steam 25 horse power. Broken up at Blyth February 1957 by Bolckows.

She was always refered to as a Tug, however the CAMBOIS was used as the Harbour Master's Launch and Inspection Vessel.
When not being pressed into service as an 'Extra' Official Vessel I suspect she was used on the Mid-Ferry Service.
