Er no :| it’s actually the Blyth Volunteer Lifeboat’s “new” boat and it does move.
Saw it returning to her berth last Sunday afternoon
One of the first of her class but apparently slower than the rnli’s boats at Tyne, Cullercoats, Blyth and Newbiggin

Thanks Graham, must have needed some good funding to buy and run her, maybe not out too often due to fuel costs?
Why needed if RNLI still have one there or is that just a 'fast dinghy'.

Exactly George!

She was on the sale list for £65,000 and it will cost extra to convert her back into a fully fledged Lifeboat.
She is ex SIR WILLIAM ARNOLD (52-02). Second Arun to be built in 1973 and based at St Peter Port before being sold out of service in 1998. She is unique in having a wooden hull and flying bridge at the rear of the superstructure. Power is derived from twin 460 hp CATS giving her a speed of 18.2 knots.

Now is she needed..........well we have Big Boats capable of 25 knots at Seahouses, Amble and Tynemouth. Plus an Atlantic 75 at Blyth, and Atlantic 85's at Newbiggin and Cullercoats with night time capability. Seahouses, Tynemouth, Amble, and Blyth also have modern D-Class.
So, Is she needed, work it out for yourself........
