The Swansea pilot, Stanley Gilbert, was praised yesterday for a 'first class piece of seamanship' after he steered the 9,000-ton Indian ship Vishva Parag away from rocks and beached her near the port. She was holed at about 3am when part of the steel plate cargo shifted in a Force 10 storm about six miles offshore.
